This year, Figshare is embarking on a major project to restructure our metadata.
Figshare currently supports the configuration of custom metadata using a Group-based approach. This project will shift to an item type-based approach, creating a more flexible and adaptable structure to better serve our community and your evolving needs, including:
- An extended set of stock metadata fields, improving integration with downstream systems
- Simplified group configuration
- Improved in-system overview of configuration options
- Enhanced options, such as the ability to reorder metadata fields via the user interface
