Wednesday 7 May | 5:00pm AEST | 7:00am GMT
Join the Figshare team for a walkthrough of our April 2026 release — a major update focused on metadata accuracy, Google Scholar indexing improvements, and a smoother upload experience for your researchers.
What we’ll cover:
In this session we’ll walk through everything shipping in the 29 April release, including:
- Custom date field improvements — “Publisher Accepted” and “Publisher Published” fields are now date-only, eliminating time zone-related inaccuracies in stored metadata
- First Online Date logic update — the field now stays null unless explicitly set, fixing incorrect defaults that were causing Google Scholar indexing issues for Journal, Book, and Chapter item types
- Smarter group selection at upload — the Group selector now auto-selects the user’s group by default, reducing steps and simplifying the upload flow for researchers
- Google Meta tags on public item pages — improving discoverability and indexing accuracy in Google Scholar
- Bug fixes — including resolved issues with API access token generation and user profile record display
